What is WorldCat?

MIT's WorldCat allows you to search the MIT Libraries catalog and library catalogs worldwide.

In addition to many features, search results are from library catalogs around the world, with MIT's holdings ranked first in the list, followed by holdings from Borrow Direct libraries and finally, other more distant libraries.

Things to remember:

  • This is NOT a complete catalog of MIT's holdings.  Instead it contains about 90% of what's in the Barton catalog. For a comprehensive search, use the Barton catalog.
  • While the results show some journal articles, they represent only a very small amount of MIT's journal collection. Use BartonPlus to search for articles, e-books, and other eresources.
  • See our E-journals & Databes A-Z for a more complete list of journals and databases owned by MIT.
