Finding Books at MIT

Barton, the MIT Libraries' Catalog

http://libraries.mit.edu/barton
Barton searches for books, book chapters, conference proceedings, MIT theses, and journal titles (not journal articles)

Tips:  Try Keyword or Title Keyword searching. For relevant books, click the Subject Heading links to find more.

   Examples:

  • A "Title begins with" search for Made in Hanford. has the Subject Heading  "Atomic bomb -- United States-- History--20th Century."
  • A Keyword search for <nuclear weapon proliferation> has the Subject Heading "Nuclear nonproliferation."

Try combinations of Subject Keywords such as "nuclear, atomic, social, political, history, aspects"

Once you have results, explore the "Search Within" feature.

Finding Books Outside MIT

MIT 's WorldCat is a database best used to identify books (and other materials) available from libraries outside MIT. Use Advanced Search. The Borrow Direct service can provide books to MIT within 3-4 days. Use the blue Request buttons. You may also complete the borrowing form by going to Interlibrary Borrowing (ILB).
