***IMPORTANT NOTICE***

As of 2/5/09, MIT's password for SDC Platinum has changed.  If you already have SDC Platinum installed on your PC, you will need to update this information in your software.  Visit https://libraries.mit.edu/secure/sdc-access.html for the new password (MIT certificate required), then input this new password in SDC Tools (under Start Menu-->Programs-->SDC Platinum 3.0-->SDC Tools; select "Account").

On 4/29/09, version 4.0 of SDC Platinum was released.  Although v4.0 includes new enhancements and features, v3.0 is still operable.

About SDC Platinum

SDC Platinum is a collection of several financial databases produced by ThomsonReuters. The MIT Libraries subscribe to:

  • Global New Issues (domestic: 1970+, international: varies, but none before 1978; in both cases most recent 30 days are excluded)
  • Syndicated Loans (1995+; most recent 30 days are excluded)
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (domestic: 1979+, international: 1985+; in both cases most recent 30 days are excluded)
  • VentureXpert (1969+)
(VentureXpert is also available in a web-based edition.)

In order to use the SDC Platinum databases, you must install the SDC Platinum software on your desktop. The installation of software can take up to 30 minutes (see SDC Software Installation for technical requirements and instructions).

Alternatively, authorized MIT users may:

a) Use SDC Platinum databases on a workstation in Dewey Library.  Exported data may be saved to a flash drive.

b) Use Bureau van Dijk's Zephyr, a web-based database of mergers & acquisitions, initial public offerings, joint ventures, and venture capital deals. Zephyr does not require the installation of additional software.
