The MIT Libraries are a depository for selected U.S. federal publications, and provide access to government information from around the world.
The collection reflects the subject strengths of the Institute's academic programs.

State and Local Government Information
- The MIT Libraries have a basic level collection of state and local documents.
- Documents from state and local planning agencies are at Rotch Library.
- Materials on state politics and government are at Dewey Library.

International Government Information
The MIT Libraries collect international documents in all formats from many intergovernmental organizations and national governments to support the Institute's academic programs, most notably those in economics, political science, and urban studies and planning.
