Resources for students to preparing for internships

Tips

Before your interview:

  • Learn about the company.  Know the most recent performance data, who runs the company, and where they conduct business.
  • Check national and local news sources to find out more about the company.  Search the company name and executives, and words like "interview," "hire," or "salary" to get deeper information..  You can also search for news of the industry in general.
  • Find out if your interests and values align with the company.  Search news databases for the company name and words like: philanthropy, charity, donation, LGBT* (the asterisk is a wildcard that captures all iterations), dog friendly, corporate culture, sustainability, environment, etc.
  • Use your knowledge about the company to create questions to ask at your interview
  • Ask a librarian if you need help finding information.  We're here to help!

At your internship:

  • Use library resources like academic journal articles and data in your writing and analysis.
  • While you may use our resources as part of your work, our licenses prohibit distributing library materials outside of MIT in their original form.
