R2: Summary of Changes

(Effective March 1, 2007)

MONOGRAPH ACQUISITIONS

Ordering

  • Books ordered for REFERENCE are no longer rush
  • Stop typing “GENE bkpl.” note for all G-GENE accounts

Receiving

  • Stop inserting “Aga Khan” flags
  • Stop treating REFERENCE books as Rush.
  • Stop penciling in the PO # in books
  • Stop using “Gift to the MIT Libraries” bookplates
  • Use new barcoding procedures:

-Cloth – Place single barcode on front cover, top left corner, no more than 1” from the top edge and not more than 3” from the left edge, regardless of design  (Dust jackets to be placed inside text block.)
                                   
-Paperback –  Place piggyback barcode on the inside back cover, 1” from top and centered

SEE “Barcoding Guidelines” dated 12/18 for full instructions for HD/LSA and limited access items, as well as items with enclosures.

Approvals

  • Pull all colored flags and approval slips when re-matching books with invoices

 

GIFTS

  • Stop using “Gift to the MIT Libraries” bookplates

  • Use new barcoding procedures:

-STOP using “duplicate” barcodes for items going to LSA/HD

-Cloth – Place single barcode on front cover, top left corner, no more than 1” from the top edge and not more than 3” from the left edge, regardless of design
                                   
-Paperback –  Place piggyback barcode on the inside back cover, 1” from top and centered
