In 2016, the Marvel universe introduced Riri Williams, a super-genius and MIT student who becomes the new Iron Man, later Ironheart. An MIT student, Riri builds her own Iron Man suit in her dorm and succeeds Tony Stark, the original Iron Man and also a famous fictional MIT alumnus. Riri made her solo comic debut in the 2018 series Ironheart by Eve Ewing and Kevin Libranda.
MIT Admissions produced a short film, "Not all heroes wear capes - but some carry tubes," highlighting Riri's story for Pi Day 2017. Watch the video below and learn more about the making of the film on the MIT Admissions blog.
