Public Health Emergency COVID-19 Initiative via PubMed Central

What’s included: Free access to coronavirus-related publications and associated data from publishers and societies around the world. This is a collaboration between publishers and NLM to expand access and enable reuse and machine learning through the deposit of COVID-19 and coronavirus-related articles to PubMed Central.

How to access it: Users are encouraged to use the search query links provided in the Discovery box on the COVID-19 Initiative page. Access is free to all.

COVID-19 Open Research Dataset (CORD-19)

What’s included: More than 47,000 scholarly articles, including over 36,000 with full text, about COVID-19 and the coronavirus family of viruses. This dataset leverages the efforts of the COVID-19 Initiative and is intended to mobilize researchers to apply recent advances in natural language processing to generate new insights in support of the fight against this infectious disease.

How to access it: Access to CORD-19 downloads and additional resources is free to all.


What’s included: Citations and full text of COVID-19 specific literature published since the outbreak . This is a resource developed by intramural researchers at the National Library of Medicine that utilizes a text classification algorithm for screening and ranking relevant documents, topic modeling for suggesting relevant research categories, and information extraction for obtaining geographic location(s) found in the abstract.
