MIT Faculty Open Access Policy

What is the Policy?

  • The policy, adopted by unanimous vote of the faculty on March 18, 2009, operates automatically to give MIT a license in any scholarly articles faculty members complete after its adoption. It will allow you to legally make your writings openly accessible, and it will enable MIT to help you do so. More information.

What do I need to do to comply with the Policy?

  • Although not required for the Policy to have force, MIT recommends that you communicate this Policy to your publisher add to any copyright license or assignment for scholarly articles an addendum stating that the agreement is subject to this prior license.  More information.
