The Administrative Support Group is a functional group made up of Libraries and MIT Press support staff whose primary function is to provide administrative support to our organizations in a broad range of capacities, for example: financial and payroll management; calendaring, travel, and/or event support; and facilities and supply maintenance. The purpose of this group is to disseminate information and updates, to exchange best practices, to identify common processes that may benefit from additional development or clarification, and to provide members, more generally, with a venue to discuss work with peers in similar roles.
The agenda is set by members. Colleagues in related functional areas—HR, Facilities, Finance, Administration—are invited to contribute and present agenda items, as is useful. Temporary employees in similar roles are welcome to attend meetings at the discretion of their managers (typically, when agenda items are important to the work being conducted).
