Hello Colleagues,

Please see the below email from Chris Bourg (MIT, Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation Chair).

Best,

Heidi

Heidi Nance
Director of Resource Sharing Initiatives
Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation

Dear colleagues,

At the Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation meeting on Friday, the Directors/ULs carefully considered the BDSI Executive Team update regarding the two strongest candidates that had emerged from the RFP. We also heard from Heidi Nance, who presented a very detailed summary of both the Accenture and the Index Data proposals. The report and the work done collectively and individually provided us with a clear sense of the advantages and disadvantage of each proposal. The BDSI Executive Team, chaired by Rob Cartolano, did an excellent job of highlighting the issues that faced us all.

We voted on the proposals, and the result was that 9 favored Accenture and 4 favored Index Data. Our MOU calls for a 10 member majority for collective Ivy Plus action, so we decided that the best course of action would be to consider this RFP closed.  Penn has informed both vendors that we will not be accepting their proposals.

In order to move forward the Directors/ULs have committed to meet for a day-long special meeting as soon as possible, and hopefully within the next month or two, in order to chart a way forward to support the development of the Borrow Direct Shared Index to which we all remain committed. Please know that although we are not moving forward on the results of the RFP process, the insights gained from that process will be deeply valuable in our next steps.

Again, our sincere thanks to the BDSI Executive Team for their excellent work and forthright communication with us on this valuable initiative.

All best,

Chris
