The Journal of Artists’ Books provides a platform for both theoretical and creative expression and was a forum for the study of artists’ books. JAB published critical and theoretical articles, reviews of artists' books and exhibitions, and commentary on conferences and other book art-related activities. The journal ended in 2020.

What started as an experiment in open-access online-only publishing “way back” in 2004 grew into perhaps the most widely read publication in the book arts, with over a quarter of a million downloads for all issues combined since we began with a global readership. Last issue January 2012, Volume 8.

This is an art journal that began publication in 1978. Coverage includes news and reviews of artist books, mail art and contemporary art and photography tradebooks. Also included are interviews with leading book artists, alternative spaces, and Fluxus artists. The print-copy publication ended in 2005 and was replaced by an online edition from 2006 to 2008.

A search of the term “artist book” yields over 400 results. Covers a broad range of related subjects, from fine, decorative and commercial art, to various areas of architecture and architectural design. International in scope. Contains full-text, detailed indexing, and abstracts.
