Storage and project work

Student workers working on collections projects assist with sending materials to storage, withdrawing items from the collection, searching for materials, and other projects. You may work at the Library Storage Annex or at other library locations, depending on project needs.

You may:

  • Pull materials for storage from the library stacks.
  • Search for lost material.
  • Print and apply barcodes to items.
  • Add, update and verify records in the library catalog.
  • Tie and wrap damaged materials.
  • Pack materials into boxes, and unpacking boxes.
  • Move materials in the stacks.
  • Help the local library unit with shelving, pulling patron requests, and other daily tasks.

Attention to detail is essential in all positions.

Collections Projects

Location:Students in this unit assist with storing and withdrawing materials at Barker, Dewey, Hayden and Rotch Libraries.

Available hours: 5 hrs/wk, Mon-Fri 9am-5pm for training & flexible after you're trained

Additional information: This job involves lots of physical activity. You will be on your feet for most of your shift.

Library Storage Annex

Location: Library Storage Annex, N57

Duties: We’re looking for people to help out with

  • Retrieving books
  • Scanning/article delivery
  • Shelving 
  • Stacks maintenance / large scale shifting
  • Shelf reading

Hours: We need 2 hours of student worker help every weekday (Monday-Friday).  Can be in the morning or the afternoon.  

Starting wage: $16/hr
