Responding to Students in Distress

  • If there is an emergency or you believe someone is at risk of harming themselves or someone else, contact the MIT Police at 617-253-1212.
  • For assistance from an MIT administrator after hours, contact 617-253-1212 and ask to speak with the Dean on Call. The police will contact the Dean on Call and you will receive a call back from an administrator quickly.
  • If you are concerned about an MIT student or a specific event, contact the CARE (Coordination, Assistance, Response, and Education) Team at 617-324-CARE (2273), email, or complete a CARE form
  • The online Faculty Guide provides information about how to direct students to the right sources of support.
