Librarians and other exempt staff members in the MIT Libraries are considered Administrative Staff. Administrative Staff members enjoy many of the same benefits and privileges as faculty members. They are not, however, eligible for tenure or for sabbatical leaves nor may they vote in faculty meetings. Administrative Staff appointments do not include consulting privileges as defined for members of the faculty. Specific instances of consulting service may be undertaken with the Director of Libraries' prior written approval.
