CDP was founded as the Carbon Disclosure Project in 2000, aimed at encouraging firms to disclose more information about their climate-change-related risks and opportunities. On behalf of investors and governments, the CDP surveys public companies worldwide to assess their dependencies on the world's natural resources and their strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, safeguarding water resources, and preventing deforestation.

Covering S&P 1500 companies, ISS provides data on: Directors: range of variables related to individual board directors (e.g., name, age, tenure, gender, committee memberships, primary employer and title, etc. from 1996+ Governance: information on takeover defense and other corporate governance provisions and Incentive Lab executive compensation data.

Annual data set of positive and negative environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance indicators applied to a universe of publicly traded companies. Coverage: 1991+

Annual historical data for each proxy year beginning in 2001. Information includes: corporate board structure and independence , director positions and committee assignments, executive and director compensation, audit fees, corporate ownership, and takeover defenses.

Refinitiv ESG (“Environmental, Social, and Governance”) provides company-level data on public companies worldwide. It is only accessible from the Datastream workstations available at Dewey Library (E53, 1st floor). From within Datastream, ESG is included as a Datatype option under the Equities category.
