GIS Help

The GIS & Data lab, housed on the 1st floor of Rotch Library (7-238), is available for use during Rotch's operating hours. Software and one-on-one help is for use by the MIT Community only.

Get Help

Complete our GIS help request form to ask a question or schedule an appointment (in person or virtual) or stop by during drop-in help hours (no appointment needed).

GIS Drop-In Help:

GIS drop in help has started for the semester.  Contact GIS Services for an appointment outside of these hours:

  • Tuesday 2-4 PM
  • Wednesday 2-4 PM
  • Thursday 2-4 PM

Updates:

There are no open lab hours during spring break. Contact GIS Services for an appointment during this time.

The lab will be unavailable from 1:00PM - 2:30PM on April 22, 2024. There will be a workshop at that time.

 

GIS & Data Lab computers are available to use remotely when Rotch Library is closed. Submit our help request form to make a reservation.

Install ArcGIS Pro (the newest GIS software from ESRI) or ArcGIS Desktop. QGIS is also a great free, open-source option.
