GIS Assistance

The GIS laboratory, housed on the 3rd floor of Rotch Library (7-238), is available for use during Rotch's operating hours. GIS software is for use by the MIT Community only. Stop by any of the times listed below for GIS help - no appointment necessary.

GIS Help Hours:

February 3rd-May 16th

Monday-Thursday 1pm-5pm

Friday 2pm-4pm

There will be no help hours on Monday, April 21st and Wednesday, May 13th.

If you cannot make these times, email your question or contact us to set up an appointment. Our email address is gishelp@mit.edu.

Several data layers have been added to our repository over the last month! View them in GeoWeb.

   Note: An MIT Certificate is required for downloading. At this time, aerial photographs can only be downloaded using the GeoWeb plugin for ArcMap.

Access LandScan data from 2000 to the present. World population data in a 1km grid is now available online.
