Acquisitions & Appraisal is actively engaged in the work of the MIT Libraries in support of the teaching, research, and learning efforts at MIT, and aligned with the MIT Libraries Vision, Mission, and Values.
We provide acquisitions and management services for materials of all types, including: purchased licensed e-resources (journals, databases, e-books, and more), tangible formats (books, serials, sheet music, and more), Open Access content acquired through MIT's Open Access policy, and increasingly data and other forms of born-digital content.
We oversee the materials acquisition lifecycle from ordering to establishing access. We manage subscriptions, interface with vendors, and solve access and bibliographic problems for Libraries staff and the MIT community.

Email and chat (via Ask Us) are generally the most effective ways to get help and contact staff since many are working remotely, and even staff on campus are often on the move and away from their phones.
